Libyan Desert Glass LDG

Libyan Desert Glass is a type of impact glass, often grouped with tektites, though technically it’s slightly different from classic tektites.

• Formed around 26-29 million years ago
• Created when a meteorite impact or airburst generated extreme heat (over 1,600°C)
• This heat instantly melted desert sand (silica) and cooled into natural glass
